Video Projection Technology
Video projectors are the need of the hour in the present technologically advanced hi-tech world where much of the tasks are performed with the help of various technological tools. Video projectors perform their function by means of locating and acknowledging a video signal and then presenting the image through a system of lens. Such projections are extremely useful in case of professional and classroom presentations and with the progress of time, developed technological tools have further facilitated the efficient working of video projectors. There are certain predominant technological modes which are used by the video projectors for good quality and flawless image projection.
Previously certain techniques like that of the oil-film projectors like Talaria and Eidophor, Schmidt-CRT, ILA or Image Light Amplifier light valves were used for facilitating the workings of the projectors. However these have become outdated and newer techniques are in use nowadays. The first among them would be the LCD projector which functions with the help of LCD light gates and is the most prevalently used technique for projection. The CRT projector functions with the help of cathode ray tubes and are of three colors blue, red and green. It is one of the oldest of the projection technologies used today and is favored because of its low maintenance cost. It also offers the largest screen size if paid accordingly. The DLP technology of Texas Instruments’ is used by the DLP projector which comprises of digital micromirror devices or DMDs which are microfabricated light valves, varying from one to three in number and it functions with the help of a revolving color wheel and the mirror which allows color modulation. Video projection is also possible with the aid of LCOS projectors which use the light crystal on silicon technology and the same technique is also used in the functioning of D-ILA JVC’s Direct-drive Image Light Amplifier which in its turn is gain another mode of video projection. Major manufacturers include Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sharp, Mitsubishi.
