Recording Studio Design
Recording studios are vital for providing sound recording without any form of obstruction from external sound effects. Therefore, it is doubtless that without the presence of these specialized recording studios it is impossible for one to listen or view the daily share of one’s radio and television programs with smooth sound effects. The recording studios provide soundproof ambience for recording and it is designed in a way that no external sound can penetrate within the enclosed walls of the recording studio. This is done by constructing double layered walls having insulation and dead space between them. These strategically and intricately designed walls allow soundproof facilities to the recordings and are therefore a boon for musicians and performers. In the recording studios the rooms are created in keeping with the acoustic principles to ensure the perfect
acoustic ambience is prevalent for recording without any glitches. Moreover, the various diffusion and absorption materials ensure that perfect sound effects are produced as a result of recording and the soundproof facilities further facilitate their functioning.
Recording studios are designed majorly in a way so that it is divided into three major zones. The main action takes place in the studio, also at times referred to as the ‘live room’ where the vocal and instrumental recordings occur. In the control room, the recording takes place by taking in the sound waves produced in the studio. There is also a machine room or an isolation booth where noisy instruments like the electric guitar and the drums are kept so that they do not affect the vocal recordings taking place in the studio. At times, depending upon the space and convenience recording studios may also contain additional control rooms and there are also vocal booths which present separate voice recording facilities. Recording studios are designed to provide perfect and enhanced sound quality and with the use of digital computer based techniques, its functioning has become more efficient.
