Recording Studio Construction

A recording studio is a specialized studio constructed for the purpose of sound recording. It is impossible for one to imagine today the broadcasting of television and radio programs without the presence of these recording studios which provide the correct ambience for proper sound recording. One very significant reason because of which one can easily admit that recording studios are indispensable is for the fact that without these studios it is impossible to provide perfect voice quality and smooth broadcasting without any disturbance produced by external and natural sounds. Recording studios are soundproof zones constructed by the acoustician and can be divided into three major sections. These are the studio, the control room and the isolation booth. The studio is of course as the very name states, the place where the vocalists or singers or musicians perform. The control room consists of the various recording equipments which supervise the recordings comprised mainly of monitor speakers, mixing consoles and computer-based DAWs. In certain recording studios there are separate sections like isolation booths which usually house noisy instruments like drums and electric guitars to prevent their sound from affecting the recordings of the vocalists.

Nowadays with the improvement in computer technology and with the emergence of various computer-based software in most recording studios, computer based DAWs are used rampantly and they have slowly begun replacing the recorders, samplers, synthesizers and mixing consoles making recording easier and less hassle free. In the absence of mixing consoles, the same function is performed by the use of the mouse and the keyboard and this process is known as ‘mixing in the box.’ Isolation booths are also essential in recording studios for loud instruments like electric guitars and drums require extensive isolation to prevent distraction to the vocalists by its sounds penetrating their microphone.

Project studios were initially constructed during the 1980s and were made mostly to cater to the demands of a single person for a non-commercial purpose and use microphones and multitrack recorders.
