Selecting good Projection Screens

Video projectors are very significant technological tools today which enable the emission of images by means of acknowledging video signals and projection through lenses. These video projectors are useful in not only professional spheres during boardroom presentations but they are also used in classroom projects as well. Therefore it is easy to point out that one of the most important requisites for this purpose are the projection screens which comprises of a blank surface and can be of innumerable kinds. These screens may be used in movie theatres, home theatres, television and as grey screens.  Among flat screens and curved screens, the use of flat screens is more prevalent. The projection screens can perform multitudes of functions as movie projectors, digital projectors, slide projectors etc.

Large screens like movie screens function as a white surface with tiny glass beads for emitting excellent light in darker ambience while it may also be aluminized. In home theater systems the most commonly used screens are the rigid wall-mounted screens which allow perfect image reproduction while the pull-down screens are also used in home theaters for space saving purposes. Electric screens are operated by means of a remote control while mobile screens are smaller screens displaying mobile functions. In home theater systems, an oft used term is ‘screen gain’ which refers to the reflective power of light contrasted with the screen layered with titanium dioxide or magnesium carbonate. Here the calculation is reached with the aid of the proportion of light targeted and the amount which is reflected perpendicular to the screen.

The quality of the illuminated object as displayed on the projection screen depends greatly upon the ambient light as well as the illuminating power of the projector. In grey screens the displayed objects represent a darker color tone than that of those displayed by a white surface as they reflect less light and are often used by the planetariums.
